||This letter is written in support and recommendation of Professional
Actors Training and Helping (PATH). As the director of the
Cross-Cultural Curriculum for medical residents at Cornell Internal Medicine Associates, I have had the pleasure of working with PATH for three years.
The PATH actors have been extremely important in the development and implementation of our curriculum, which focuses on doctor-patient communication and medical interviewing techniques in
cross-cultural situations. The clinical scenarios outlined for the PATH actors have been complex, yet they have consistently risen to the challenge. These actors are reliable, punctual, insightful, highly believable, and quick to learn. They have contributed a great deal to the education of our residents.
The director of PATH, Ray Iannicelli, has been especially helpful and
easy to work with. He has consistently been able to provide us with
actors able to fit the diverse and complex situations that we develop.
Often these require actors of specific ethnic backgrounds to play
the roles of Chinese or Hispanic patients, for example. He has been
very understanding of our unique needs and has adapted to these exceptionally well.
PATH is an extremely competent and professional organization
and a pleasure to work with. I recommend them highly and would be happy to answer any questions about our experience with them.
